Price of ½ kg tomatoes = 4 rupees.
b) Price of 1 kg onions = 10 rupees
Price of ½ kg onions = 5 rupees
Price of 1kg carrot = 16 rupees

So ½ kg of onion is more than ¼ kg of carrot.
c) Price of 1 kg potatoes = 12 rupees
Price of ¾ kg of potatoes = 9 rupees..

2.   Price of 1 kg potatoes = 12rupees
Price of ½ kg potatoes = 6 rupees
Price of 1 kg pumpkin = 4 rupees
Price of 2kg pumpkin = 2 x 4 = 8 rupees
Price of 1kg carrot = 16 rupees
Price of ¼ kg carrot = 4 rupees
Total = 6 + 8 + 4 = 18 rupees.
So Keerthi can buy all the things in her shopping list.

3.   Price of 1 kg tomatoes = 8 rupees
Price of 2 kg tomatoes = 2 x 8 = 16 rupees

Price of 1 kg sugar = 30 rupees
Price of 2 kg sugar = 2 x 30 = 60 rupees

10.     Total number of chocolates = 60
Chocolates given to his friends = ¼ of 60 = 15

10.     Neelu bought 15 story books to her class. Today 45 students are present. How many children will need to share one book?

ANSWERS:

1.   Number of legs Gayatri counted = 28 legs
A cat has 4 legs.
8 legs means 2 cats are there.
12 legs means 3 cats are there.
If we are counting this way 28 legs means 7 cats are there.
Therefore there are 7 cats in the box.

2.   Number of legs counted by Billo = 28 legs
A chicken has 2 legs.
Therefore, number of chickens in the box = 14. (Since 14 x 2 = 28)

3.   Number of days in a week = 7 days
3 weeks are there in 21 days because 3 x 7 = 211.
Therefore, for 3 weeks she has away from school.

4.   Jumps taken by frog to cover 3 steps = 1
a) Jumps taken by frog to reach 27 = 9 jumps (Because 3 x 9 = 27)
b) He has taken 12 jumps, if he is at 36. (Because 3 x 12 = 36)
c) If he is at 42, he has taken 14 jumps. (Because 3 x 14 = 42)

5.   Jumps taken by rabbit to cover 5 steps = 1
a) Number of jumps needed to reach 25 = 5 (Because 5 x 5 = 25)
b) He reaches 40 after taking 8 jumps. (Because 5 x 8 = 40)
c) He needs 11 jumps to reach 55 (Because 5 x 11 = 55)

6.   Number of sea shells required to make a necklace = 17
Number of sea shells required to make 2 necklace = 34
(Because 2 x 17 = 34)
Number of sea shells required to make 3 necklace= 51
(Because 3 x 17 = 51)
Number of sea shells required to make 4 necklace = 68
(Because 4 x 17 = 68)
Number of sea shells required to make 5 necklace = 85
(Because 5 x 17 = 85)
Therefore, 5 necklaces can be made by using 100 sea shells and 15 sea shells will be remained.

7.   Number of soap bars that can hold one carton = 85
Number of soap bars that can hold two cartons = 85 x 2 = 170
Number of soap bars that can hold three cartons = 85 x 3 = 255
Number of soap bars that can hold four cartons = 85 x 4 = 340
Number of cartons required to pack 338 soap bars = 4 cartons.

8.   a) Number of sacks needed for making a house = 1500 sacks
Number of sacks carried by the truck in one step = 250
So number of trips made by the truck to carry 1500 sacks = 6
(Because 6 x 250 = 1500)
b) Amount charged for one trip = Rs 500
Amount paid by Manpreet for all the trips = 500 x 6 = 3000 rupees.

9.   a) Number of laddoos needed to pack in one small box = 4
Number of laddoos needed to pack in 23 small boxes = 23 x 4 = 92
Number of laddoos in the tray = 80
So it is not enough to pack in 23 small boxes.
b) 12 more sweets are needed.
c) Number of laddoos that can be packed in the bigger box = 12
Number of boxes needed for packing 60 laddoos = 60 divided by 12 = 5 boxes.

10.     Number of story books brought by Neelu = 15
Number of students present in the class = 45
Number of students need to share one book = 45 divided by 15 = 3 students.
